The 84th Annual Academy Awards

Oscars 2012

V pořadí již 84. ceny akademie byly rozdány a ukončily tak nostalgické ohlédnutí za tím nejlepším, co nám přinesl předcházející rok. Slovo "nostalgie" je typické i pro celý přenos. Podeváté se vrátil hostující Billy Crystal, celý večer byl laděn v retro duchu počátků kinematografie a ostatně největší počet ocenění získaly (nepřekvapivě) snímky Hugo a The Artist.

Zadostiučinění se dočkala Meryl Streep, po neuvěřitelných 17ti nominacích proměnila teprve třetí za svou roli Margaret Thatcher ve filmu The Iron Lady. Absence kvalitního Pixaru využil Rango od Gore Verbinskiho (a od IL&M) a hlavní cenu za originální scénář získal právem Woody Allen a jeho Půlnoc v Paříži. Nejlepším snímkem roku se nakonec stal belgicko-francouzký černobílý a němý snímek The Artist.
