Elmer Bernstein (*4.4.1922 - †18.8.2004)

Když už je ten sychravý a pošmourný listopad, představme si ještě jednoho vynikajícího hudebního skladatele, který už bohužel není mezi námi. Tím nebude nikdo jiný, než Elmer Bernstein. Jméno pro mnohé možná poměrně neznámé, ale jeho díla pozná většina od prvních tónů. Sedm statečných nebo Velký útěk jsou však jen špičkou ledovce ve filmografii tohoto pilného tvůrce. Za svou kariéru zkomponoval hudbu k mnoha desítkám filmových a televizních produkcí. A na většinu z nich se nyní podíváme.

Na Oscara byl nominovaný celkem 14x, pouze jedinkrát uspěl, a to s hudbou ke snímku Správná dívka. Pozoruhodný je Elmerův žánrový přechod od velkých orchestrálních kompozic k westernům či válečným velkofilmů do vod rozpustilých komedií. A to rozhodně nebylo na škodu. Můžeme tak vděčit za mnohá hravá témata ke spoustě legendárních komedií 80. let, jako jsou například Krotitelé duchů. Bernstein byl velký umělec a uznání si tak rozhodně zaslouží.
